Good Job, Mike Huckabee

Governor Mike Huckabee recently dropped out of the Presidential race.  I was sorry to see him go, though he had not done well this time in the polls.  However, I have consistently had great respect for Governor Mike Huckabee.  I believe he is a true statesman, is a godly man, and is capable of leading.

Huckabee, a former Southern Baptist pastor, entered politics to run for the governor's seat in his home state of Arkansas.  While studying the much-acclaimed workbook Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God, Huckabee sensed the leadership of the Lord challenging him to leave the pastorate and enter the field of politics.  As he shares, he defeated the Clinton machine and served ten years as governor of Arkansas.

Last February, Huckabee made an appearance at the annual Johnny Hunt Men's Conference.  Pastor Johnny, pastor of one of the Southern Baptist Convention's largest churches, challenged the Governor: "Governor, if you run, I'll vote."  Well, he gave it his best shot.  Thanks, Governor Huckabee.  You can go out with your head held high.

The past year I have enjoyed both his book God, Guns, Grits and Gravy as well as Dear Chandler, Dear Scarlett.

Here is a video of Mike Huckabee explaining his views on several areas.  In it he explains how his relationship with Christ set the trajectory for his entire life.

"The great secret of America is the Providence of God. . . .  God had a purpose for this country."
